Liverpool fans finally have the celebration they’ve been dreaming of – and this time, they get to enjoy every second of it.
On Saturday, Arne Slot’s side thrashed Tottenham 5–1 at Anfield to secure the 2024/25 Premier League title, ending Manchester City’s reign and drawing level with Manchester United’s record of 20 top-flight English titles.
It’s Liverpool’s first league triumph since 2020 – but unlike the pandemic-hit title celebrations of five years ago, this one happened in front of a packed Anfield. It was loud, it was emotional, and it was absolutely deserved.
“This title means so much to us, especially being able to share it with our fans at Anfield,” said captain Virgil van Dijk. “It’s a moment we’ve all been waiting for.”
Slot’s Stunning First Season
When Arne Slot took over from Jurgen Klopp last summer, many questioned whether the Dutchman could fill the colossal shoes left by the German. Few expected he would lift the Premier League trophy at the first attempt.
But from the very start of the season, Liverpool under Slot looked sharp, organised, and hungry. In a fiercely competitive title race, the Reds simply outlasted Arsenal and City, losing just two of their first 34 games.
Slot was quick to pay tribute to his predecessor in the aftermath of the title-clinching win.
“I have to thank Jurgen for the incredible team and culture he built here,” Slot said. “It’s been an honour to continue that legacy.”
While Klopp built the foundations, Slot added a new tactical polish — with Liverpool blending intensity with control, something they occasionally lacked in recent years. The result? A relentless, confident side that refused to let their chance slip.
Salah Stars Again

Once again, Mohamed Salah proved himself indispensable.
The Egyptian king finished the season as the Premier League’s top scorer, bagging 28 goals to spearhead Liverpool’s charge. His consistency, even after all these years at the very top, remains astonishing.
In the title decider against Spurs, Salah was at his electric best — scoring once and setting up another as Liverpool ran riot.
It felt fitting that one of the icons of the Klopp era would be so central to Slot’s first major triumph.
“Mo has been unbelievable this season,” said Slot. “His hunger to win, his professionalism — it’s an example to everyone.”
But it wasn’t just Salah. From Alisson’s calm authority in goal to young stars like Jarell Quansah stepping up when needed, this was a title won by the whole squad.
A Title to Celebrate
Liverpool supporters have waited a long time for a moment like this.
Their last Premier League title, in 2020, came at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic — a muted affair, with no parade, no open-top bus tour, and no chance to properly soak it in.
This time, the celebrations will be loud and long.
Liverpool have already announced plans for a city-wide victory parade on Monday, May 26th. The parade will kick off at 2:30pm from Allerton Maze and snake through a 15-kilometre route ending at Blundell Street, giving fans across the city a chance to salute their champions.
For the players, lifting the trophy at a full Anfield was emotional enough — but the upcoming parade promises to take the celebrations to another level.
“We’ve dreamt about this,” said Trent Alexander-Arnold. “To win it properly in front of our people, it’s special beyond words.”
Ending City’s Dominance
This season’s title feels particularly significant because of who Liverpool dethroned.
Manchester City had won the last four Premier League titles, including a historic treble in 2022/23. Pep Guardiola’s side had become the dominant force in English football — a dynasty that seemed almost impossible to break.
But Liverpool broke it.
They didn’t just hang on in a tight race; they sprinted through the finish line with weeks to spare. A 15-point gap to second-placed Arsenal, and City nowhere to be seen.
It’s a reminder that while City’s machine-like brilliance remains formidable, English football’s competitive spirit is alive and well. Liverpool’s title isn’t just a win for their fans — it’s a win for the belief that dynasties can be challenged.
Looking Ahead
With four games still to play, Slot and Liverpool will have the luxury of preparing for next season from a position of strength. The goal will be clear: defend their crown and kick on in Europe, too.
Given how quickly Slot has stamped his authority and blended Klopp’s fire with his own tactical control, Liverpool fans have every reason to be excited.
For now, though, it’s all about celebration — and reflection on a historic achievement.
Level with Manchester United at the top of English football’s honours list, Liverpool have written another unforgettable chapter in their storied history.
As Van Dijk summed up:
“We wanted to bring this trophy back to Anfield the right way — and we’ve done it. It’s a proud, proud day for everyone who loves Liverpool Football Club.”
An army of Reds will agree with him there.
